Fantastic Friday!

We started our morning with a awards ceremony for the month of January, congratulations to all the Risk Taker award winners!  We also enjoyed Reading Buddies with the grade 4 students and Show & Share presentations.


Inquiry into Language
The students worked with partners to complete an I Spy writing activity.  The students had to write down and match pictures and short words that they found around the classroom.

Inquiry into Math
The students were focused on their Subtraction Math Tests today.

Unit of Inquiry
The students worked in groups and practiced their problem solving skills, matching picture cards and words together.  Each group also had to present their work in front of their peers.

Tremendous Thursday!



Inquiry into Language
The students worked with partners to complete sort words with missing beginning blend sounds.  The SK's practiced their reading and printing skills with a matching activity sheet.

Inquiry into Math
The students continued reviewing single digit subtraction equations and strategies.  Our class enjoyed collaborating with Ms. Bannon's class and worked on solving subtraction questions together.

Unit of Inquiry
We continued our Winter theme and continued working on a five senses writing booklet activity.

Wonderful Wednesday!


Inquiry into Language
The students were introduced to the formation and sound of the blend NG.  The SK's worked with partners to sound out and spell words that begin and end with NG words as a class on the board and worked on their printing books.

Inquiry into Math
The students continued reviewing single digit subtraction equations and strategies.  The students worked with partners using manipulatives and practiced with an activity sheet.

Unit of Inquiry
We continued our Winter theme and worked on a writing booklet that also explored using our five senses.  The students brainstormed ideas and practiced their sentence writing skills.

Inquiry into Language
The students reviewed the formation and sound of the blend TH.  The SK's worked with partners to sound out and math TH words with the correct picture with a cutting and pasting activity.

Inquiry into Math
The students continued reviewing single digit subtraction equations and strategies.  The students worked with partners using manipulatives and practiced with an activity sheet.

Unit of Inquiry
We continued our Winter theme and worked on a tree art activity.  The students used construction paper, white paint and Q-tips to create their winter tree and snow art piece.

Motivated Monday!

We started our morning with a fun Chinese New Year dragon dance, presented by the grade 2 students!

Fun Friday!

The students enjoyed purchasing healthy treats from Ms. Gandy's farmers market today.  The students who presented their Show & Share for the blend sounds IGH & OA, did a great job!

Inquiry into Language
The students worked on a writing pre-test for term 2.

Inquiry into Math
The students continued to review what they already learned about single digit subtraction equations and strategies.  The students worked with partners using manipulatives and white boards to answer a subtraction activity sheet.

Unit of Inquiry
We continued learning more about the season Winter and worked in groups to problem solve a hot chocolate letter and picture matching game.
