Terrific Thursday!

Inquiry into Language
The SK's practiced the sound and formation of the blend sound ew and brainstormed words on the board. The SK's worked with partners with a challenging word search and practiced printing in their printing booklets.

UOI
The students continued our top secret Mother's Day activity.

Daily 5
The students were engaged in Literacy Centers with partners.

Math
The SK's continued reviewing for the upcoming Measurement test with group activities.

Sharing the Planet:

An inquiry into rights and responsibilities in the struggle to share finite resources with other people and with other living things; communities and the relationships within and between them; access to equal opportunities; peace and conflict resolution

Central Idea: Farms are providers of many of our daily nutritional needs.

Lines of Inquiry:

· The steps involved in getting food to our tables

· The inquiry into the benefits of edible plant parts.

· Into why we need a variety of different farms.

Where We are in Place and Time:

An inquiry into orientation in place and time; personal histories; homes and journeys; the discoveries, explorations and migrations of humankind; the relationships between and the interconnectedness of individuals and civilizations, from local and global perspectives.

Central Idea: The exploration of our solar system can lead to a better understanding of our place in the universe.

· The importance of the sun and moon.

· Characteristics of planets, moons and star

Who We Are:

An inquiry into the nature of the self; beliefs and values; Personal, physical, mental, social and spiritual health; human relationships including families, friends, communities, and cultures; rights and responsibilities; what it means to be human.

Central Idea: A community’s members are responsible for working together, in order to establish a common purpose.

Lines of Inquiry:

· The people who make up our community.

· The role of community members.

· Into global communities.

How We Express Ourselves:

An inquiry into the ways in which we discover and express ideas, feelings, nature, culture, beliefs and values; the ways in which we reflect on, extend and enjoy our creativity; our appreciation of the aesthetic

Central Idea: We can express our feelings & emotions in many different ways throughout the year.

Lines of Inquiry:

· Why people experience different feelings.

· How our senses allow us to investigate our environment.

· Into Seasons.
