Thankful Thursday!

Inquiry into Language
The SK's practiced the sound and formation of the blend sound ie. The SK's brainstormed words that have the ie blend and practiced printing in their booklets.

UOI
We started our Career Day for the Community Helper summative presentations today.

Daily 5
The students were engaged in Literacy Centers with partners.

Math
The SK's continued reviewing Canadian money (coins). Today the students reviewed the value of a Loonie and Toonie and worked in groups with manipulatives.

Sharing the Planet:

Central Idea: Farms are providers of many of our daily nutritional needs.

Lines of Inquiry:

· The steps involved in getting food to our tables

· The inquiry into the benefits of edible plant parts.

· Into why we need a variety of different farms.

Where We are in Place and Time:

An inquiry into orientation in place and time; personal histories; homes and journeys; the discoveries, explorations and migrations of humankind; the relationships between and the interconnectedness of individuals and civilizations, from local and global perspectives.

Central Idea: The exploration of our solar system can lead to a better understanding of our place in the universe.

Lines of Inquiry:

· The importance of the sun and moon.

· Our place in our solar system.

· Characteristics of planets, moons and star

Who We Are:

An inquiry into the nature of the self; beliefs and values; Personal, physical, mental, social and spiritual health; human relationships including families, friends, communities, and cultures; rights and responsibilities; what it means to be human.

Central Idea: A community’s members are responsible for working together, in order to establish a common purpose.

Lines of Inquiry:

· The people who make up our community.

· The role of community members.

· Into global communities.

How We Express Ourselves:

An inquiry into the ways in which we discover and express ideas, feelings, nature, culture, beliefs and values; the ways in which we reflect on, extend and enjoy our creativity; our appreciation of the aesthetic

Central Idea: We can express our feelings & emotions in many different ways throughout the year.

Lines of Inquiry:

· Why people experience different feelings.

· How our senses allow us to investigate our environment.

· Into Seasons.
