Wet and rainy Wednesday!

The students spent their recesses indoors today, due to the wet weather outside.  I hope that everyone had  a safe drive.

Inquiry into Language
We continued practicing the formation and sound of the blend sound oa.  The students worked on their printing skills and had to determine which oa words were real or nonsense words, the students worked with partners on an activity sheet.  Here is the link to the song:oa song

UOI
The SK's continued our Winter unit that correlates with the Seasons unit.  We continued working on our winter senses booklet.  Today the students focused on the their sense of taste with a hot chocolate activity.  The students made their own hot chocolates and tasted them, we shared with each other how it tasted and recorded our observations in our winter senses booklet.

Daily 5
The students were engaged in Literacy Centers and enjoyed reading with our grade 4 reading buddies!

Library
We had library time with Mrs. Hayward today.

Math
The SK's practiced their subtraction skills with a dice game, the students worked with a partner and had to roll the dice and subtract 1 from that number.

Reminders:
-The grade 1 students will be holding a Farmers Market inside their classrooms on January 24th & 25th to raise money for Sick Kids Hospital and as their summative project for their unit.  Students may bring in change on that day to purchase healthy snacks.
-Bake sale: Tuesday, January 29th & Wednesday, January 30th.
-Casual day is on Thursday, January 31st.
-Book Fair is from February 4th to 8th.
-Pancake Day is on Tuesday, February 5th.
-100th day of School will be held on Wednesday, February 13th.  Students will dress up like they are 100 years old on that day!
-Spirit day is on February 14th, students may dress up in Valentine's Day colours (red, white, pink).
-The school will be closed for a PD day and Family day on February 15th & 18th.
-Bake Sake: February 26th & 27th.
