We started our day visiting the grade 1 classes for their class summative project (Farmers Market). The students had fun purchasing healthy snacks and practicing their math skills, counting and subtracting money.
Inquiry into Language
We continued practicing the formation and sound of the blend sound oa. The students worked on their printing skills in their printing booklets. Here is the link to the song:oa song

UOI
The SK's continued our Winter unit that correlates with the Seasons unit. The students practiced their sentence printing and structure skills with a penguin writing activity. The SK's had to create a simple sentence using the words that were provided. They had to cute and paste it in order, as well as print it.
Music

Daily 5
The students were engaged in Literacy Centers with partners today.
Math
The SK's practiced their subtraction skill of crossing off pictures and counting how many is left with an activity sheet. The students had the choice to work individually or with a partner.
Reminders:
-The grade 1 students will be holding a Farmers Market inside their classrooms on January 24th & 25th to raise money for Sick Kids Hospital and as their summative project for their unit. Students may bring in change on that day to purchase healthy snacks.
-Bake sale: Tuesday, January 29th & Wednesday, January 30th.
-Casual day is on Thursday, January 31st.
-January spelling test: Friday, January 31st.
-Book Fair is from February 4th to 8th.
-Pancake Day is on Tuesday, February 5th.
-100th day of School will be held on Wednesday, February 13th. Students will dress up like they are 100 years old on that day!
-Spirit day is on February 14th, students may dress up in Valentine's Day colours (red, white, pink).
-The school will be closed for a PD day and Family day on February 15th & 18th.
-Bake Sake: February 26th & 27th.
