Happy Friday!

It was nice to have my class back again!  We started our day with a sharing circle and talked about some of the things that were similar or different about grade one and SK.  The students enjoyed themselves overall yesterday!

Inquiry into Language
We continued practicing the formation and sound of the blend sound qu.  The students worked on printing upper/lower case "qu" and short words that begin with the blend sound.  Here is the link to the Jolly Phonics song:qu song.  The students also worked on a space themed word search for a challenge.

Gym
Ms. Yustin continued their gross motor activities focused on yoga and gymnastics.

French
Mlle. Hou taught the students winter themed vocabulary in French.  Her is the link to her website: http://mllehousja.blogspot.ca/

UOI
The SK began working on the rough copy and good copy of their summative space assignment.

Daily 5
The students were engaged in Literacy Centers, with books and puzzles.

Math
The SK's were introduced to our new Subtraction unit.  We began with learning the different strategies we could use to show our work and help us answer subtraction equations, a few students volunteered to demonstrate watch strategy to the class:
1. Using pictures
2. Using our fingers
3. Using a number line
4. Crossing out and counting what is left
The students worked in groups using manipulatives and focused on answering questions on their Math books.
