Wonderful Wednesday!

Thank you to everyone who brought in treat for the bake sale today, we still have tomorrow as well.  We are very close to the Christmas break!

Inquiry into Language
The SK's practiced the sound and formation of the blend sound zz. The students practiced printing both upper & lower case zz in their printing booklets.  We also worked on sentence structure with a cutting and pasting Christmas themed activity.  The students had to use the short words provided to create a sentence and print the sentence as well.

Gym
Ms. Yustin was back today and they continued their gross motor activities focused on yoga and gymnastics.

French
Mlle. Hou taught the students Christmas themed vocabulary in French.  Her is the link to her website: http://mllehousja.blogspot.ca/

UOI
We continued watching more informative videos from Chris Hadfield about his experience in space.  We had a sharing circle to express what we observed and thought or questions we might have.

Library
The students returned their library books and listened to The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, read by Mrs. Hayward.

Math
The students focused on their addition test today.

Terrific Tuesday!

The SK's had a busy morning practicing printing short words that begin with the letter Zz on the board and continued reviewing for our addition math test tomorrow.  We had the opportunity to have a sharing circle and talk about the different traditions that we share during the holidays with our families, we also watched a video that showed how Christmas was celebrated around the world.  The students were excited to watch a video about the Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, they learned about how astronauts sleep and brush their teeth in space.  The students were amazed to see the differences and similarities between space and them at home on earth.  Mlle. Jessica was back to teach the students some Christmas themed vocabulary in French.

Happy Monday!

We have a few more until Christmas break! We were busy today, even without French because of a few teachers being away.  The students continued to work on reviewing addition equations, today the students focused on using ten frames to help show their work.  The students that needed more of a challenge with a variety of addition activity sheets.  We worked on the letter Zz and brainstormed words and names that begin with the letter Zz.  They students worked in their Journals and practiced their printing and sentence writing skills.  The SK's worked with a partner and had to match short words with the correct picture with a cutting and pasting activity.  When they had finished, each student had to copy the words and think of a sentence using one of the short words in their Journals.  We finished off learning about each planet with a read a loud that focused on Uranus and Neptune, the students learned more interesting facts and worked on an activity sheet.

It's Friday!!!!

We made it to Friday, we only have a few more days until Christmas break.  There were also a few teachers away sick today, so that meant no Gym or French class.  We still did a lot of learning and had a lot of fun!  We started with a Christmas writing activity, the students practiced their sentence writing skills.  The students continued to work on addition equations and focused their learning on using a number line.  We ended our day with Library time with Mrs. Hayward, she read a story and the students took out new books.

Snowy Thursday!
