Terrific Tuesday SK parents!

Letters of the week: s & a

Today we had a full day of fun and learning.
Language-We continued practicing the sound, letter formation and words that begin with the letter s.  The students have mastered the Jolly Phonics s song and action.  Here is the link if you would like to practice at home: Jolly Phonics s song.  As a challenge, I hid letter s word cards around the classroom and each student had to find one and read it out loud to the class.  The students also practiced printing both upper/lower case letters and worked on sentence writing in their Journals.
UOI-We continued learning more about where our food comes from and how it connects to the farm.  The SK's reviewed the process and life cycle of wheat, by working on a booklet.
Math-The students practiced identifying numbers that are one/two more and one/two less (intro to addition/subtraction), using manipulative and an activity in their work books.

We will begin our Homework program this week.  Each student will go home with a Words of the Week Journal in their agendas, as well as the words.  Please remember to send the Words of the Week Journal back on Friday.  The Monthly spelling test words are also in the agenda, which will take place every month at the end of the month.  Every Friday, we will have a class Show and Share!  This week it will be Elijah, Noah, Marco and Riya.  The focus for Show and Share is for the students to being in an item that begins with the letters of the week (s or a).
