Terrific Thursday!

The students had s haring circle to start our morning and talked about our trip yesterday.

Inquiry into Language
The students were introduced to and practice the formation and sound of the blend SH.  The SK's brainstormed SH words and practiced printing in their printing books.

Inquiry into Math
The students continued learning more about single digit subtraction equations and strategies.  The students worked with partners using white boards and practiced drawing symbols and crossing out strategies.  The SK's also worked on an activity sheet.

Unit of Inquiry
We continued out Winter theme and brainstormed things that reminded them of winter.  The students practiced their early reading skills with a Winter booklet.  We practice in a reading circle and took turns reading out loud.

Mr. Foster’s Farmers Market and Ms. Gandy’s Groceries

As part of their summative assessment the grade one classes have decided to open a market to complement their organization unit. The market will include fruits, vegetables, drinks and other healthy snacks. It will be held in rooms 12 and 18. The market will take place all day Thursday, January 23rd and Friday, January 24th. All profits made will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.

  • January 29th-Casual Day
  • February 13th-100th Day of School & Spirit Day (students may dress in Valentine's Day colours/theme)
  • February 14th-Valentine's Day & PD Day (No school).
  • February 17th- Family Day & No school
  • February 25th-Casual Day
  • February 26th-Spelling Test & Pink Shirt Day
