Happy Friday!

The students did a great job being an audience for a few grade 6 exhibition presentations today. We also had a few students present their Show & Share, a few students brought in items that has the blend sound "wh" or a picture of a family trip. We were engaged with a math activity that focused on heavy and light and ended our day practicing for Arts Night at the dome.

Reminders:

May 6th-Dress Rehearsal (students are to come to school in their costumes)
May 7th-Arts Night (12 noon & 6:30 pm)
May 10th-Measurement Math Test (review package will be sent home Friday, May 3rd)
May 17th-No School (PD Day)
May 20th-No School (Victoria Day)

Sharing the Planet:

Central Idea: Farms are providers of many of our daily nutritional needs.

Lines of Inquiry:

· The steps involved in getting food to our tables

· The inquiry into the benefits of edible plant parts.

· Into why we need a variety of different farms.

Where We are in Place and Time:

An inquiry into orientation in place and time; personal histories; homes and journeys; the discoveries, explorations and migrations of humankind; the relationships between and the interconnectedness of individuals and civilizations, from local and global perspectives.

Central Idea: The exploration of our solar system can lead to a better understanding of our place in the universe.

How We Express Ourselves:

An inquiry into the ways in which we discover and express ideas, feelings, nature, culture, beliefs and values; the ways in which we reflect on, extend and enjoy our creativity; our appreciation of the aesthetic

Central Idea: We can express our feelings & emotions in many different ways throughout the year.

Lines of Inquiry:

· Why people experience different feelings.

· How our senses allow us to investigate our environment.
