Thankful Tuesday!

We started our morning celebrating Pancake Tuesday with a fun house game and Reading Buddies with the grade 4 students!

Inquiry into Language
The students practiced the formation and sound of the blend sound UR and worked on a writing assessment activity sheet.

Inquiry into Math
The students continued reviewing more about time by the hour and half hour. The students enjoyed playing a game where they had to challenge against each writing down the correct digital time to the analog time that I show on the big clock.

Unit of Inquiry
The students continued learning more about Community Helpers. The students brainstormed what they already know about crossing guards and watched a video to learn more about crossing guards. We worked on an art activity, creating our own crossing signs and the students took turns role playing.

Inquiry into Language
The students practiced the formation and sound of the blend sound UR. We put our thinking caps on and brainstormed words and names that had the blend sound UR. The students enjoyed and search and find game, where each student had the opportunity to look for the blend sound UR picture and word card in the classroom.

Inquiry into Math
The students continued to review time by the hour and half hour, using manipulatives and practice activity sheets.

Unit of Inquiry
The students continued learning more about Community Helpers. We shared our ideas about what we already know about farmers. The students watched an educational video about farmers and talked about what their job was, what tools they might use, etc.

Fantastic Friday!

We started our morning with a presentation for Jump for Heart! I have sent the forms home, please return by March 6th.

Inquiry into Math
We continued our morning with our Show & Share presentations, the students did a great job presenting the blend sounds of the week AR & OR.

Unit of Inquiry
We continued our Community Helper theme and learned more about dentists. The students listened to a read a loud titled Let's Meet a Dentist and enjoyed a presentation by one of our parents who is a dentist!

Tremendous Thursday!

Inquiry into Language
The students continued to practice the formation and sound of the blend OR. The students brainstormed words that had the OR blend and we discussed as a class the meaning of each word. The students worked with partners with a cutting and pasting matching activity, to match OR blend words with the correct pictures.

Inquiry into Math
The students continued learning more about Time by the half hour! The students worked with partners and practiced their time recognition skills, they used the clocks they made and worked on a matching activity sheet.

Unit of Inquiry
We continued our Community Helper theme and learned more about doctors! The students listened to a read a loud titled Let's Meet a Doctor and worked on a cutting and pasting activity. The students also role played and took turns pretending to be the doctor or patient, while filling out pretend perception notes.

Sharing the Planet:

Central Idea: Farms are providers of many of our daily nutritional needs.
