Sporty Thursday!

We continued our Spirit Week with Sports Day today!  We also enjoyed a House Game in the afternoon that had both students and teachers participating.

Inquiry into Language
The students practiced the formation and sound of the blend sound EAR and worked on sentence writing skills in their Journals.

Inquiry into Math
The students started a new unit on Money.  The students continued to learn more about the Dime and used manipulatives and an activity sheet to practice.

Unit of Inquiry
The students continued learning more about Community Helpers.  The students were so excited to have a visit from Constable Khatri Dhiren and some other police offers.  They interacted with the students and answered all their questions and enjoyed exploring the police cars!

Wacky Wednesday!

We started our morning with another House Game to celebrate Wacky Wednesday!  The students enjoyed talking about the different things they chose to wear today.

Inquiry into Language
The students practiced the formation and sound of the blend sound EAR and practiced printing in their printing books.  The students also brainstormed and took turns reading short EAR words.

Inquiry into Math
The students started a new unit on Money.  The students were introduced to the Dime, we talked about the name, value and characteristics of the coin.  We used our 100 chart sheet to assist us in counting by 5's.  The students used their sheet and manipulatives to work  on an activity sheet.

Unit of Inquiry
The students continued learning more about Community Helpers.  The students reviewed what they already learned about community helpers, the different kinds we can find in our neighborhood, how do they help us and what tools they use.  The students worked on a matching activity
that the students had to cut and paste.

Terrific Tuesday!
We started our morning with a fun House Game and the students enjoyed talking about the different characters they were dressed up as.  Just a reminder that if there are any House Points that were accidentally left at home, please return them back to school =)


Inquiry into Language
The students practiced the formation and sound of the blend sound OI and worked on sentence writing skills in their Journals.

Inquiry into Math
The students started a new unit on Money.  The students were introduced to Canadian coins, we talked about the the names and value of each coin.  The students focused more on the Penny and used manipulatives and an activity sheet to practice.

Unit of Inquiry
The students continued learning more about Community Helpers.  The students reviewed what they already learned about community helpers, the different kinds we can find in our neighborhood, how do they help us and what tools they use.  The students worked on a matching activity with partners.

We started our morning with a fun house game, where the students and teachers competed in a pillow case race!

Inquiry into Language
The students practiced the formation and sound of the blend OI.  The students reviewed both sounds that the blend OI makes and brainstormed short words on the board.  The SK's also practiced printing in their printing booklets.

Inquiry into Math
The students started a new unit for Math, the students were focused with their Money pretest today.

Unit of Inquiry
The students continued learning more about Community Helpers.  The students brainstormed what they already know about a Vet and listened to a read a loud story.  The students role played using stuff toys and filled out pretend forms.
