Thankful Tuesday!
We continued our Soaring through Space presentations with some students who were away last week and enjoyed Reading Buddies with the grade 4 students.
Inquiry into Language
The students continued to practice the formation and sound of the blend CH. The SK's reviewed the CH blend sound and worked with partners with a matching activity sheet.
Inquiry into Math
The students continued learning more about single digit subtraction equations and strategies. The students worked with partners using manipulatives to answer questions from their Math book.
Unit of Inquiry
We continued our Soaring through Space summative presentations. We also continued our Winter unit and listened to a read a loud story titled The Mitten. The students worked on a sorting, cutting and pasting activity.

As part of their summative assessment the grade one classes have decided to open a market to complement their organization unit. The market will include fruits, vegetables, drinks and other healthy snacks. It will be held in rooms 12 and 18. The market will take place all day Thursday, January 23rd and Friday, January 24th. All profits made will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.

Mr. Foster’s Farmers Market and Ms. Gandy’s Groceries
As part of their summative assessment the grade one classes have decided to open a market to complement their organization unit. The market will include fruits, vegetables, drinks and other healthy snacks. It will be held in rooms 12 and 18. The market will take place all day Thursday, January 23rd and Friday, January 24th. All profits made will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.
Important Dates:
- January 15th-Class trip to the Science Center (students are to wear full gym uniform, please be at school by 8:30 am and bring a pack able lunch/students will only be bringing their lunch bags)
- January 29th-Casual Day
- February 13th-100th Day of School & Spirit Day (students may dress in Valentine's Day colours/theme)
- February 14th-Valentine's Day & PD Day (No school).
- February 17th- Family Day & No school
- February 25th-Casual Day
- February 26th-Spelling Test & Pink Shirt Day

Fun Friday!
We continued to rest of our Soaring Through Space presentations today and Show & Share presentations. We also enjoyed Reading Buddies with the grade 4 students.
Inquiry into Language
The students continued to practiced the formation and sound of the blend QU. The SK's searched for words and pictures that had the blend sound QU and worked on a cutting and pasting activity.
Inquiry into Math
The students worked on some Addition Math review in groups.

Wonderful Wednesday!
Happy New Year everyone! We started our day with a sharing circle to talk about some of the things we did during the break.

The students practiced the formation and sound of the blend QU, the students also practiced sounding out short words that begin with QU blend. The SK's worked in their printing books and practiced printing upper, lower case QU and the short word queen.
Inquiry into Math
The students had a short review of what they already learned about addition before they completed their Math Test.
Unit of Inquiry
We continued exploring the season Winter with a brainstorming and sentence writing activity. We brainstormed words that reminded us of the season winter, using our five senses. We worked together to create a few simple sentences using the words we brainstormed, each students chose a sentence to write and draw a picture on an activity sheet.
Library
The students enjoyed Library time with Ms. Hayward.
